Pre 31 Run Report
The annual Pre 31 Run brought out a number of bikes that do not do well on main roads. To qualify for the event all machines had to be manufactured before the 31st December 1931.
The Boys and Ken brought some interesting bikes up from London; these included a Ner-a-car, an Excelsior and a Bradbury. Nearer to home Simon turned up on a 1912 Triumph and Bill brought over his 1929 AJS.
From the Section Nick rode his Douglas, Mike his Panther, Jimmy his Scott, Brian his AJS, Alan his BSA and Peter his Triumph.
The morning route took them along quiet lanes through the villages of Cawston, Briston and Langham on their way to Blakeney. The lunch stop was at the Kings Arms Blakeney where a prompt service was provided by Nick and his staff.
Alan had problems with his sidecar relegating Linda to the back up van, Jimmy had further problems with his back tyre pressure resulting in his machine going on the trailer.
15 miles into the route we met Simon who was having difficulty with the Triumph and Pete and Maggie whose Triumph had given up completely. Simon was hoping to get going again so Pete's Triumph shared the trailer with the Scott. Simon travelled a further mile but finally gave up. We said we would be back once the trailer was unloaded in about an hour.
After the presentation the backup vehicle went back and recovered Simon and his Triumph.
Our thanks go to Cynthia , Ruth and Janet for the catering and admin, Bob for the backup and all the entrants who made the event a great day despite the breakdowns, they don't breakdown sitting in the garage!
The highest combined age award went to Ken Lee with a combined age of 156 years.
