Bow Street Run
Who could have predicted that the weather for this year's Bow Street Run would match last year's event. Peter reckons that the sun only shines on the righteous that makes this event special . There were 32 bikes entered this year which was very good.
We did have a wet run a couple of years ago when I was running the Morgan with no roof , Ohh!! did it rain. The floor was wet, I was wet everything was wet, Ho Hum. This year we all roasted in 26C heat and ate indoors at the very welcoming Waggon & Horses at Griston. It was too hot to eat outside, how few times can we say this.
We had 32 riders sign on with 3 passengers, with vehicles ranging from Norton Electra's to BSA Gold Stars in trials trim, we had one combination ridden by Alan with Linda as passenger.
The problem for Peter were the number of breakdowns which started with Roger's Triumph with minor works back at the start then tried again but failed, he eventually went home; there was Dudley's battery which failed at the Bell, Marlingford, very conveniently and Jimmie's nipple that snapped on his decompressor making the debutante Velocette Mac a very quiet Velo.
The Run in the morning was through some lovely scenery with views across the valley at Marlingford.
Peter had to be the mulitask backup man to collect the broken down bikes. the return route was via Kenninghall and Old Buckenham with lovely views on the way.
On the return we were welcomed by tea & cakes. Our thanks go to Pete & Maggie for the route & buffet, also Reter & Ruth for checking the route & Cynthia for the sign on & admin.
