Round Norfolk Report 2010

The annual Round Norfolk Run started off from the Gull Inn at Framingham Pigot 5 miles south of Norwich. The skies were overcast after heavy overnight rain and this, we think, put off a number of riders resulting in a lower than average turnout of 27 riders and machines.

BSA & Norton at the start

We had a number of riders from other sections and these included Frank Dolman from Anglian, Rod Gant from Chiltern, Roger Barton from Ipswich, John Allen from Essex , Andy Cameron, Bill Sinden, Graham Bramley and Geoff Dixon from Kings Lynn.Norton & Honda at the start

The earliest machine on the Run was a 1913 BSA which was ably ridden by Frank; Nick on his 1925 Norton kept him company around the 186 mile route.

By 08.30 all riders were on route choosing their own places for a break, some stop at Walcott others at Cromer or Sheringham.

The coffee stop was at Blakeney where Nick made us very welcome. The backup car driven by Jimmy arrived at about 11.00 reporting one casualty who had gone home with a misfire.Richard Bland at the Kings Arms Blakeney

The next part of the route took them along the coast road to Hunstanton and then through Dersingham to Kings Lynn after which the riders head south to the Foldgate Inn at Stradsett for the lunch stop.

After lunch the route takes them south again to Thetford and then through to Diss. The early ones managed to avoid the heavy rain that was popping up but the two unfortunates, Frank and Nick, got rather wet on that part of the route.Rain Break

There were no breakdowns that could not be put right on route but after a long day Bill Sinden's Royal Enfield decided it had had enough and refused to run after about 20seconds running as they were about to head home. Jimmy kindly offered to put the RE on his trailer and take him home.
